10 more kids to be selected from Alaska Power Camp
Angeles City – 16 kids from the Manila Regional Training Camp held at the University of the Philippines Diliman Gym April 21 and 22 will join the 6 kids culled from the Puerto Princesa Regional Selection Camp on April 11, the 9 kids from the Cagayan de Oro Regional Selection Camp on April 15 and the 9 young players from Pampanga chosen on April 19 in the Jr. NBA National Training Camp on May 3-5 at the UP Gym and SM Mall of Asia.
The National Training Camp is the high point of the 2012 Jr. NBA Philippines presented Alaska where 10 Jr. NBA camp participants will be chosen at the end of a three-day boot camp and be named the 2012 Jr. NBA Philippines All Stars Team. The Jr. NBA All Stars will be rewarded with an authentic NBA experience and a chance to play with a counterpart Jr. NBA team abroad.
10 more kids from the Alaska Power C amp will join the 40 kids selected from the various regions to bring the National Training Camp participants to 50. A Jr. NBA clinician and NBA Legend Luc Longley will fly to Manila to run the training camp alongside local Jr. NBA coaches led by PBA Legend and Alaska coach Jojo Lastimosa.
The 16 players from the Metro Manila camp are : Randolf Erickson Marcelo from Pasig, Luis Miguel Velasco from Pasay, Samuel Abuhilijeh from Laguna, John Ronald Mayor from Pasig, , Miguel Kristoffer Abila from Quezon, Omar Pius Mangadam from Cavite, Patrick Sison from Pampanga, Aljun Jay Melecio from Mandaluyong, Tommy York Gedaria from Makati, Juan Carlo Garcia from Valenzuela, Bryan Joshua Lina from Antipolo, and Camillus Altamirano, Joshua Francis Callejo, Aaron Ivan Reyes, Aoki Estacio and Patrick Ramirez from Manila.
Puerto Princesa representatives to the National Training Camp are : Paul Dagunan, 14 of San Miguel National High School; Himel Samante, 12 and John Mark Bentulan, 14 of Palawan National High School; Lorenzo Carlos, 14 of Palawan State University and Miguel Raphael Jison, 14 of St. John’s Institute, Bacolod City.
The kids selected from Cagayan de Oro are : Arnold Cagang from Cagayan de Oro, Jepher Egan from Bukidnon, Ian de la Cruz of Assumption College from Davao, Lorenz Viajar from Butuan City, Lui Besa from Bohol and Felixberto Jaboneta, Arnie Padilla, Arvid Ong and Zachary Juang from Cebu.
The selection from Pampanga is composed of : Rico Soliman Pawan Singh, Diesel Jericho Malonzo, Polo Alberto Dayrit, Anton Miguel David, Antonio Jeffrey Coronel, Joshua Alfonso Gantan, Ivan Jules Pineda and Jeremiah Joy Sandalo, all from various towns in Pampanga. Angeles City.
The two-day Regional Selection camps tested the skills and basketball savvy of the participants via vitals tests, basketball drills and skills stations. The Top 40 performers were chosen on the first day and asked to return for more intense basketball drills and scrimmages the following day. The best players from the 40 participants were selected at the end of Day 2 by Jr. NBA coaches led by PBA Legend Jojo Lastimosa and other members of the Alaska coaching staff.
